About Felicity

I’m an Australian artist working in oil paint, drawn to the small expressions and fleeting moments that reveal the spirit of a person. A cheeky grin, a familiar gesture, the particular character of a beloved pet. I’m interested in the details that make someone unmistakably themselves.

My paintings are an exploration of tenderness, memory and the passage of time. In a world where we take photographs of almost everything, I’m drawn to painting as a way of making a moment tangible; of giving it weight, presence and a life beyond the instant in which it occurred. I’m especially drawn to children and animals, and to placing these smaller, often overlooked beings at the centre of the picture.

After studying fashion at Parsons School of Design in New York, where my training began with the foundations of art and design, I spent years drawing from life. It was after the birth of my daughter, however, that I felt a new sensitivity to the world around me, and a desire to explore painting more deeply. Oil painting offered me a way to slow down, sit with an emotion and give it form.

I’m a mother and a dog mum, and my work is shaped by a growing appreciation for the beauty of ordinary life. Having moved away from the coast where I grew up and returned, I’ve come to see home with fresh eyes.

Ultimately, I hope my paintings evoke a sense of recognition — a reminder of the beauty, joy and soulfulness held in the people we love and the everyday moments we might otherwise let pass us by.
